Abstract: Zhangdian Oilfield is a layered reservoir where oil ~ bearing zones are narrow and located near faults. If developed with vertical wells, development effects would be poor as vertical wells cannot penetrate all oil layers. Dual - target directional wells can penetrate several narrow oil layers, effectively improve injection- production pattern, and put more oil reserves into production. Application of this technology in Zhangdian oilfield has converted the hard - to - recover reserves into producing reserves and the low efficiency wells into highly efficient wells.
