Abstract: The production scale of 178 oilfields in 12 oil areas owned by CNPC were analyzed with mathematical statistical methods. The cumulative production distribution curves of oilfields of different sizes were drawn and the overall average oilfield size in each oil area was calculated. It was discovered that consistency exists between oilfield size and economic benefits, which provides a quantitative analytical method for economic comparation.
