Abstract: Migration and distribution patterns of proppant in 3-D fractures are analyzed through comprehensive application of several theories including fluid mechanics, seepage flow mechanics, sand-transportation mechanics and fluid thermal-dynamics. A numerical model with variable fracture height is set up and used in practical calculation. This model and method can meet the needs of engineering calculation of 3-D fracture design.
